Snakes on a Plane Animatronics

I worked on animatronics for Snakes on a Plane at The Character Shop under the supervision of Todd Minobe and Rick Lazzarini.

Snakes on a Plane was my first animatronics job. It was first known as Pacific Air Flight 121, and then SOAP, before settling on its now-infamous title. I came in with a background in fabrication, Bridgeport, and lathe work, and left having had a hand in wire control puppetry, WALDO’s, radio control, silicone casting, and SFX painting.

Specifically, I machined parts for animatronic striking snakes, painted background props, cast a giant anaconda in silicone, and integrated cast elements with animatronics for hero puppets.
