Silver TARDIS Ring

Silver TARDIS Ring

So, after some trial and error, I finally have some lovely TARDIS rings to show off. They’re cast from a high resolution 3d print generated in SolidWorks. One of the beautiful bits about using a CAD program to drive the design is that I can change the proportions of the ring, shank, and TARDIS independently while keeping it within some attractive, reasonable proportions.

They’re available for presale on Etsy.

I'm Matthew Borgatti. Howdy.I'm Matthew Borgatti. I run a store called Sleek and Destroy, and I love to make stuff.

I probably won’t be offering these for download for at least a little while. I’ll most likely be releasing it on Thingiverse when the time comes.

Chances are against offering anything on the Shapeways store. It’s better for my business to generate high resolution prints, finish them, and then cast them in batches than to print one-offs. However, I might design something specifically to go directly from 3d print to the buyer some day.

Ah, ok, have you tried the quality of the silver Shapeways offers?

I’ve played with some silver pieces from Shapeways, and am not entirely happy with them. The surface quality and the step resolution just don’t approach what I’m looking for from a finished silver piece.
